What's choking you? - Single Mama With No Drama %

Last year, God spoke to me about some bramble bushes that were on my path that was getting in the way of my blessing. He said that every delay was not a denial, and things were held up but the timing had to be right. I thought, “Hmmm, bramble bushes.” I quickly looked it up to see what it looked like. Yikes! It was a tangled mess. A bramble is any rough, tangled, prickly shrub, usually in the category of a flowering plant in the rose family, which grows blackberries, raspberries, or dewberries. He said that the bramble bushes have been blown away with the wind. I had identified the bramble bush from my past and moved on.

Yesterday, I was in my quiet time with God, and He revealed another one of the bramble bushes (Remember, He said “bramble bushes” plural). “Wow,” I thought. It made total sense because He said if He had blessed me, the bramble bushes would have consumed the blessing. He said now He can freely bless me, and it will land on me and benefit me.

The interesting thing is that I would not have considered this particular thing to be a bramble bush. But who am I going to believe? My feelings or God? God, of course! Consumed not only means to “eat,” “devour,” and “gobble up.” It also means to “destroy,” “devastate,” “wreck,” and “preoccupy.” Take inventory: Something that looks and feels harmless could be trying to tangle you and take root in your life. Whether the bramble bush is there to squander your blessing or take the credit for it, it has to go!

This has to be God because I had not planned on sharing this. I wanted you to think of what may be in the way of your blessing. What bramble bushes could be on your path? The hard reality is that there are people who will feast on your blessing and not deserve to be there. The good news is, God can blow them away with the wind and make sure your blessing lands on you!

Here is a prayer for you:

God, I thank you for loving me. You are a great and awesome God. I thank you that you know the plans that you have for me, plans not to harm me but to prosper me and give me a future and a hope. Thank you for identifying the bramble bushes in my life. Please remove each and every one—anything that is not of You. Blow them away in the wind so that you can freely bless me. Please forgive me for holding on too long. And when you open my eyes, please rule and reign over my feelings and emotions so that I can be brave enough to let it go and not reach back for it when it leaves. Help me to hear Your voice and be obedient to what You want me to do. Let Your Word be a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. Holy Spirit have Your way. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
