Me and Priscilla #destinysteps
I pray that all is well with you and your family in this new and fabulous year of 2016! Unfortunately, I brought in the new year with sinus issues. I must say that it took me out! But that didn’t stop me from pressing my way to my church’s New Year’s Eve service and our New Year’s Revival. It was a good thing I did because not only did I hear an amazing sermon from Bishop TD Jakes, but I was able to meet and talk to Author, Speaker, Actress, and Bible Teacher Priscilla Shirer from the movie War Room! She was beautiful, kind and so very personable. I like to tell people that she had that Holy Ghost Spirit-Glow. As you can see from the picture I was quite giddy (lol). The vision board I created at my business retreat, a few days prior, was already working!
Take It!
As you know, back in November, I received the EPNET Legacy Trailblazer Award for my business from the Entrepreneurs and Professionals Network (EPNET). What an honor it was to be recognized as someone who is in a lane of her own while following her calling. I must admit that it’s not always easy balancing everything. I tell people, “It’s nobody but God,” when it comes to handling all of the things on my plate. When you tune into what He has put on the inside of you, He will rearrange and connect things and it’s not work! I ask Him to send me where He wants me to go, to help me do what He wants me to do and say what He wants me to say.
And the walls came tumbling down…
Let’s get to work!
What is the Jericho in your life? Everybody has one. Something so big it looks impossible to conquer. I can remember as a child playing the song on my piano, “Joshua beat the battle of Jericho and the walls came tumbling down…” not really knowing the depth of what went into the walls coming down.
The walls came tumbling down because of their faith, trust and obedience in God. After taking Jericho, they fought another battle. They lost that battle because someone in the camp didn’t follow God’s instructions in reference to Jericho (the previous battle). A soldier kept some of the treasures, from inside of Jericho, that God said to destroy. That action cost the soldier his life. The story shows us the importance of unity and being on one accord to accomplish a goal. It also shows us how one person messed up the game plan and put the bigger vision at risk.
Who or what in your life has the potential to mess up what God has for you and keep you from experiencing His full power in your life? Who or what are you holding on to that God has told you to leave alone? What do you need to scrub clean? In 2016, we need to take the vision back!
My pastor just preached something similar on New Year’s Eve. He taught out of Joshua 6 and 7. It’s a familiar story. Joshua and his army had what looked like an impossible task. God had already given Joshua the vision that the city of Jericho would be his. The bible tells us that they followed God’s instructions and the walls of Jericho came tumbling down. My pastor gave us the following three points:
1. Vision
God gives you a Vision. Vision determines your friends, how you spend your money, your attitudes, priorities and your investments.
2. Receive Instructions
Next we receive instructions. Sometimes the instructions don’t make sense. (This is where trust really comes in.)
3. Obey
Last, we must obey. Many of us get tripped up here because we have a vision, know what to do, but sit on it.
