My friend and her grandson she recruited to help her, went to the Koch Theater’s website every day over several months constantly finding the message, “Tickets are not currently available to the public” each time. She also called on those in her circle close to celebrities seeking a break, but no one was able to hook them up. Then, the breakthrough she’d been praying for! One of these friends sent her an article notifying the public that free tickets (two per person) would be available for a simulcast of this performance. WOW. The only thing was that they were being released at 4 p.m. the day of the performance on a first-come, first-served basis.
About a month before the show, my friend asked her daughter to hold that day free because there was a probable surprise awaiting her for her birthday. On the eve of October 21st, her daughter, having five boys in school under the age of 18, a dance company of her own, and a new job she’d just taken, asked, “Are we still going?” My friend told her daughter, “Yes. We’ll leave at 7 a.m. because we need to arrive in New York as early as possible!” The tension was building, and I became really nervous as I was on the edge of my seat listening on the phone to every detail, knowing how much was at stake with no tickets in hand. (And this comes from the one who felt like she earned her PhD in Faith after my single mama farm event last year, lol.) My friend pressed her way and trusted God!
They drove to New York, parking in New Jersey, then took the subway into NYC. Unfortunately, they got turned around on the subway on their way to an amazing 5-star lodging accommodation, which God blessed them with, overlooking the Hudson River, with the Statue of Liberty smiling at them! Quickly throwing their luggage down and changing, they caught an Uber to get to the theater in record time. Not seeing a line anywhere, they went to the Koch Theater’s box office to ask where the simulcast tickets were being distributed. They were told the other theater was down the street. My friend told the box office lady the story of the message she and her grandson got when attempting to purchase tickets online. The box office rep replied, “I have some standing room only (SRO) and orchestra tickets available.”

Blessings on blessings!
Let’s review:

Misty Copeland’s final ABT performance… BONUS CHECK, and seeing her husband and adorable three-year-old son… CHECK CHECK
Public witness of praising God in a NYC theater… PRICELESS

My friend said the performance was breathtaking, star-studded (with the likes of Oprah Winfrey, Debbie Allen, Phylicia Rashad, Alfre Woodard, Iman, Marisa Tomei, Misty’s husband and son, Jackson, and so many notable dance “others”), and absolutely amazing!
Afterward, Misty was showered with love and flower sprays that mounted the apron of the stage as she took a fifteen-minute bow to a standing ovation, as she joins the ABT Board!
My God! Who needs to take a healing and reconciliation trip? Who needs to make a call? Who needs to believe God like this?!? Who needs to position themselves for a miracle? How bad do you want it?
“Faith is what makes real the things we hope for. It is proof of what we cannot see.” (Hebrews 11:1)
Faith is an action word, and my friend walked that thang out, educating and encouraging us. She was believing that God would get them inside that theater, and He did!
What a faith story!! And ain’t nobody mad but the devil.
So, crack the devil’s skull by handling your business.
Blessings!

This year marked the 40th birthday of my ministry friend’s daughter. This milestone is representative of a full generation and is, indeed, special in and of itself. What made it more special was that her daughter not only trained at the Alvin Ailey School but danced with the company! With their relationship healing from years of strain, my friend had a strong desire to bless her daughter with a special heart-to-heart, mom-to-daughter blessing.
In the earlier part of the year, she came across Misty Copeland announcing her retirement after 25 years performing with the American Ballet Theatre (ABT). In 2015, Misty made history as the first Black woman promoted to Principal Dancer in ABT’s then 75-year history, taking the world by storm, purposed to call attention to the beauty and empowerment of diversity! This was all going down at the David H. Koch Theater in Lincoln Center, home to New York City Ballet, on October 22, 2025. This farewell performance was to be the celebration of the century! Two talented dancers, two tremendous milestones.

Now, let’s be honest. How many of you wouldn’t have even gone to New York because getting tickets felt impossible? How many would have gone straight to the simulcast theater, assuming the live performance was out of reach? And how many would have stayed home because you didn’t want to settle for simulcast tickets—never knowing the script could flip?
The lesson is clear: we miss out when we don’t believe.
But wait! It gets even better! While at the coffee shop, the Holy Spirit inspired my friend to look on the Koch Theater’s website just to see if tickets were available, and up pops nine orchestra tickets—inside the theater! She quickly chose the seats they wanted and attempted to purchase them online to see what would happen. Surprisingly, it went through, and they were in! OMG!! They went back to the same rep at the box office, but this time to pick up their orchestra tickets at “will call.”
Her husband encouraged her to sell the SRO tickets, but the Holy Spirit reminded her of the blessing they’d received, so she decided to bless someone else with those tickets instead. They finally found the line where the simulcast was, and her daughter wanted to bless aspiring students, but they only found groups of more than two. They approached a mom and daughter waiting in line. “Excuse me, what is this line for?” my friend asked the mom. “Oh, Misty Copeland is dancing in her last performance with ABT tonight, and this is the line for the simulcast.” Smiling with blessed pleasure, my friend asked, “How about we give you two standing room only tickets to enjoy the performance in the room?”
Astonished, the mom explained how her daughter is a student at ABT and already had a ticket for the simulcast, and only she needed a ticket. My friend recommended they take the two SRO tickets and bless someone in the simulcast line with the ticket her daughter already had. They happily accepted and blessed the man behind them with their simulcast ticket! It was the gift that kept on giving! Blessings were happening all up and down those New York City blocks!!!
WHY THE PUSH?
Well, there was more riding on this than seeing a legend dance. This was a God-ordained trip for reconciliation and healing. There had been some tension between my friend and her daughter, and she knew that if her love was realized through this specially unique NYC birthday escape, healing would certainly happen. She and her daughter talked and talked the whole way up to, while in, and down from New York, sharing their hearts transparently and with love and understanding. It was beautiful! It was God.
So, as you can see, there was a LOT riding on this faith trip! And the Holy Spirit just dropped this gem to me as I’m writing: My friend put herself in the position to be blessed. If she were home, hours away from New York, checking the theater’s website so close to showtime, she would not have been able to purchase those tickets and see the show. Because she went there (faith in action), she positioned herself for her miracle!

The Miracle! (Look at those beautiful smiles!)
