My toilet was stopped up. My daughter, Sydney, and I both plunged… and plunged… and plunged. I tried every hack, from baking soda and vinegar to dishwashing liquid, but nothing worked. “What in the world is down there?!?” I thought. One thing was sure: nothing was going down or coming up. Whatever was down there didn’t belong, and it was preventing the flow of water.
We were against calling a plumber—and besides, YouTube had us feeling like we could conquer anything! HAHA! I purchased a snake auger from Lowe’s for about $17 (kids don’t try this at home). The tool was designed to go down deep to get what I couldn’t see, to penetrate and pull whatever blockages out. We prayed and went to work. Sydney read the directions as I took the action steps. Ok… so far so good. But at one point, it didn’t seem to go as planned. The cranking motion seemed to be a little too loose, making me lose confidence. I kept going at Coach Sydney’s command… pushing while cranking and cranking while pushing.
Ever since I took care of that, [cue song] “Open the floodgates of heeeeaven… let it raaaain…” I RECEIVED CLARITY IN EVERYTHING!!
What’s stopping your flow?
Is it disobedience? Sin? Inaction? Inconsistency? Your behavior? Your attitude? Pride? Fear? Doubt? Shame? A habit? Your giving? A person? What is it?
Are you in your own way? It’s a LOT easier to point the finger, but have you looked in the mirror? Have you asked God to point it out? When He showed you, did you ask for forgiveness and begin the steps to correct it?
To my Sisters who are affected by the government shutdown, I’m praying for you and all those who are struggling financially. May this be a time of knowing without a doubt that God is your Source. (I learned that truth when I took the leap of faith from my full-time job to run my business full-time, and during the pandemic when lots of clients went down to zero.) I bind and rebuke the spirit of fear, panic, and anxiety. May this period be a time of closeness to Him to fill you up and hear His voice, experience unmerited favor, receive cutting-edge ideas for businesses and extra income, and be obedient when it doesn’t make sense. In Jesus’ name, Amen!

A clog can be frustrating and painful. You can be doing all this work, and nothing is happening. I knew this was spiritual, too. Was the devil trying to frustrate me? Absolutely. But I have to admit that the toilet was symbolic of some things going on in my life. Some things were at a standstill, and just like the water in the toilet couldn’t get through, it seemed like my blessings couldn’t either.
I had to rewind, get unclogged, be obedient, and commit to doing the work.
I’m sharing because I know I’m not the only one.
So, I’ll ask the question again. What’s backed up in your life?
We need to stop pretending all is well, and allow God to get the nasty stuff out. The snake auger I purchased could only go so deep, but we have a Savior who can reach down to the deepest, darkest place and get all of that hurt, pain, dirt, and grime out and heal you through and through–-with no residual left, so His living water can flow in us.
…Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.”

We need it! Therapy is just the start. God is the Healer and the Author of the Breakthrough. He can do it and release it at any time.
You’re waiting on God, but He’s waiting on you.
